I’ve seen a lot of questions about the Dyson V6 battery lately, so I thought I’d share some info that might help anyone thinking about replacing theirs.

The V6 uses a 21.6V lithium-ion battery, usually around 2100 mAh, which gives about 20 minutes of runtime in standard mode and about 6 minutes in MAX mode. The battery typically lasts 2–4 years depending on how often you use it and whether you store/charge it properly.

Common signs the battery needs replacing:

Short runtime (just a few minutes after a full charge).

Sudden shutoff during cleaning.

Flashing blue light when turning on.

When it comes to replacement, you’ve got two options:

Genuine Dyson battery – reliable, safe, but cost around $70–$100.

Aftermarket Dyson V6 battery – usually $30–$60, some with higher capacity (4000–5000 mAh) for longer runtime. Quality varies, so read reviews before buying.

Tips to make the new battery last longer:

Don’t let it fully drain every time.

Avoid leaving it in hot areas (garages, direct sun).
